What is a Class B CDL? Simply put, a Class A CDL is required to drive a combination
vehicle, such as a tractor-trailer. A Class B CDL would be for a single unit vehicle,
such as a panel truck. Other factors come in to play, so students are encouraged to
contact our staff for details about the different CDL classifications.
Because most of the jobs available for entry-level drivers are for Class A jobs, and a
Class A CDL holder may driver either a Class A or Class B vehicle, we recommend all
students take the Class A program. However, if a student wishes to only get a Class B
CDL, we have a program that will fit his/her needs.
Our Class B training is a 3-day training that educates an individual with little or no
experience how to correctly operate a Class B commercial vehicle. The training
consists of vehicle inspections, shifting gears, managing speed, and managing
space. Our instructors prepare drivers for real life situations that can occur during
highway, urban, rural, and interstate driving. You will learn how to properly change
lanes, how to do traffic checks, and other driving techniques that will give you the
confidence you need to handle all types of driving conditions.
To enter into our Class B program, you must be at least 18 years of age. You must
posses a valid driver’s license. You must be capable of obtaining a temporary driving
permit for Class B vehicles, and be able to pass a Department of Transportation
physical. Admittance into our school is determined on an individual basis. Please
contact us to discuss your eligibility.
The normal time to complete this course is 3 days and the cost of our Class B
program is $2000. Students must obtain a temporary instruction permit and DOT
physical prior to behind the wheel training.
